For some men trade their souls for gain,
And smile wide as they twist the pain.
They kneel as friends, they drink as kin,
Yet when the light grows weak and thin,
Their grip is firm, their aim is true,
And blood runs deep where daggers flew.
A fool forgets, a wise man learns—
That loyalty’s weight is what it earns.
And those who put their trust in lies,
Will find the blade where promise dies.
